Since January this year, Yangpu District Commission of Commerce has been promoting the initiative of “Daily Examination of Agro-chem Residual” in the markets and urging the dealers to procure vegetables from normal channels so as to minimize the opportunities for vegetables with excessive agro-chem residual from getting on people’s dinner table. Up to date, 51 vegetable markets are implementing the practice of self examination in the district. Other agricultural products such as pork with lean meat powder will adopt the same model, i.e., self examination by the markets themselves plus sample inspection by the food & drug supervision authorities, so that consumers will be assured of their food quality.
