    YangpuDistricthasrecentlycarriedoutalarge-scaleeventwiththethemeof“goldforgarbage”topromotegreenaccountsinwayofluckydrawwithaccumulatedpoints.Nearly200people opened theirgreenaccountsandexchangedtheirpointswithaluckydrawopportuni⁃ty.Trophiesincludedgolden,electriccooker,andsoon,toencouragepeopletotakepartingarbageclas⁃sification.

    Greenaccountistheencourag⁃ingmechanismthatShanghaihasbeenspreadingforgarbageclassifi⁃cation.Peoplecanapplytoopentheaccountandclassifygarbageproperlytogetpointsasreward.BytheendofDecember2015,Yangpuhastriedtheencouragingmechanismoutin98residentialquarters,involving73,000householdstoclassifytheirlifegar⁃bage.62,000householdshaveopenedthegreenaccountsandthebonuscards,accountingfor85%oftotalresidentsintheseresidentialquarters.48,000householdsactivelytookpartingarbageclassificationtowinbonuspoints,accountingfor77%ofthetotalresidents.Morethan23millionpointshavebeenaccumulatedinthegreenaccountsofYangpu,8.9millionpointsofwhichhavebeencashedinvarious activities. More than40householdsherehaveaccumulatedmorethan8,500pointseach(20pointsadaymaximum).

    AccordingtoYangpuDistrictLandscapingandCityAppearanceBureau,cashingpointsofgreenac⁃countsisaneffectiveencouragementforpeopletotakepartingarbagere⁃ductionandclassificationmorewill⁃inglyandactively.Thedistrictwillcontinuetotryoutthepracticein80,000householdsthisyear.
