　　Universitymuseumisanimpor⁃tantsymbolofauniversity’slongandrichacademicandculturalhistory.Recently,it’sbeentoldthatShanghaiUniversityofFinanceandEconomics(SUFE),afinancialuniversitywithlonghistory,isactivelypreparingtobuildamuseumofcommercetocel⁃ebratethe100anniversaryoftheUniversity’sestablishment.Themu⁃seum,ifestablished,willbethefirstofitskindinChina,fillingablankinourcountry’smuseumbuildingarea.

　　SUFEisformerlyknownastheShanghaiUniversityofCommerce,whichbeganasabusinessprogramatNanjingAdvancedNormalUniversityin1917,andthenwasrelocatedtoShanghaiin1921aftertheprogramwasexpanded.It’sestablishedwithsevenmajorprograms, includinggeneralbusiness,accounting,busi⁃nessadministration,internationalbusiness,insurance,andtransporta⁃tion,thusmakingittheoldestfinan⁃cialuniversityinChina.

　　AccordingtoJinXing,theDep⁃utyHeadofthePreparationOfficeofthe100anniversarycelebrationofSUFE,theplannedmuseumofcom⁃merceislocated insideYuhengBuilding,andthenameofthemuseumwasinscribedbyLiLanqing,thefor⁃mermemberoftheStandingCom⁃mitteeofCPCPolitburoandthefor⁃merVice-premieroftheStateCoun⁃cil.Themuseumiscurrentlyintheadvancedstageofdesignandprepa⁃rationforconstruction,whichisex⁃pectedtobeopentothepubliconSeptember17,2017,the100thanni⁃versaryoftheUniversity’sfounding.

　　Accordingtotheplan,themu⁃seumofcommerceconsistsofacen⁃tralexhibitionarea,fourthemeexhi⁃bitionpavilionsdisplayingitemsre⁃latedtoinsurance,taxationandre⁃ceipts,calculationtoolsandcurren⁃cies,andamobileexhibitionpavilion.

　　Thecentralexhibitionareaisforcommercialstudies,mainlythede⁃velopmentofhighereducationofcommerceinChina.Itspans100yearsfromthebeginningofcommerceed⁃ucationinChinatoitscurrentstate,singingpraisestotheculturearoundcommercestudies.ThemuseumwillrepresenttheteachingsceneatTon⁃gwenGuan,theearliestmodernschoolfoundedinChina,andthestudentpracticingsceneattheBusi⁃nessSchoolofNationalCentralUni⁃versityinthetimeoftheRepublicofChina,aswellasthesceneofregis⁃trationfortheNationalHigherEdu⁃cationEntranceExaminationwhenitwasresumedin1977.

　　AsSUFEwasthefirstuniversi⁃tyinChinaestablishinganinsurancedepartment,theinsuranceexhibitionpavilionwilldisplayhowthemoderninsurancewasintroducedfromtheWestintoChina,howournationalinsuranceindustrywasemerginganddeveloping,andhowtheinsur⁃anceindustryhasbeendevelopedafterthePeople’sRepublicofChinawasfounded.Theitemsdisplayedincludeinsurancepolicies,calendarposters,badges,placards,booksandjournals,aswellaspictures.“Amongthese,theinsurancepolicyofRenheInsuranceCompanyofQingDynas⁃ty,thesealofLvYuequan,thepio⁃neerofChineselifeinsurance,andthebadgeofShanghaiInsuranceIn⁃dustryAssociation－thewitnesstoinsuredinsurance－areallveryvaluablethings,”addedJinXing.

　　Asanotherhighlight,thetaxa⁃tionandreceiptsexhibitionpavilionisdedicatedtoallkindsoftaxre⁃ceiptsandrelateditemssincean⁃cientChina.AgainstthebackgroundoftaxationreformsinbothancientandmodernChina,thepavilionhassetupfivesectionsbasedonthetypesoftaxesandthefeaturesofthecollection:taxhistory,agriculturaltax,commoditytax,stamptax,andtheothers.“OnlythreetaxreceiptcollectionsofourcountryhavebeenawardedGoldMedalbytheInter⁃nationalStampExhibitionever,andoneofthemisrighthereinourcol⁃lections,andit’salsotheonlycol⁃lectionaboutcommoditytaxre⁃ceipts.”AccordingtoJinXing,theitemsofimportancedisplayedin⁃cludetheredtitledeedof1518,therecordofgrainsofataxpayerwholivedbetweenthetimesofQianlongEmperorandGuangxuEmperor,thetemplateofthestamptaxreceiptattheendoftheQingDynasty,andataxreceiptcollectionwhichhadwonthegoldenawardattheInternationalStampExhibition.
