It is reported from Yangpu Riverside Investment and Development Co., Ltd that the 2.7 km riverside coastline from east of Yangpu Bridge to Dinghai Bridge is scheduled to open during the "Shanghai Urban Space Art Season" at the end of September this year. By then, the 5.5 km southern riverside section of Yangpu District will fully open.

　　Stepping into the riverside area of Yangshupu Power Plant, three tall coal unloading machines integrated into one at the dock, along with the ecological trestle bridge reconstructed from the original coal-handling trestle bridge, form a prominent landmark of the power plant water area. In the core area of southern riverside section in Yangpu, there are a total of 24 historical buildings planned for protection and preservation, totaling 66 houses, with overall construction area of  262,000 square meters. 

　　"We hope that Riverside is opened to not only allow the public to come, enjoy the riverside wind, and look at the greening, but also inherit Yangshupu's history, by reading the architectures of this city." Zhang Hongxin, Chief Engineer of Riverside Company said, therefore, with the design philosophy of "industrial inheritance as the core", limited involvement and low-impact development are implemented, to achieve "recycling" of industrial remains, "new integration" of path clues, "restoration" of original landscapes and "catalyst" of urban transformation.

　　As the longest "riverside corridor" in Puxi, Yangpu Riverside will try to use local species in the green land, to "restore the original feeling of non-merchantable woods as much as possible". Taking the Yangshupu Gas Plant as an example, there is a protective slope piled up by stones between high stake platform of the original gas field and first-grade flood control wall. After a long time, a luxuriant plant community has naturally taken shape here. The designer finally decided to clean only the dead wood, broken branches, side branches, as well as poisonous and invasive plants in this area, and plant a small amount of flowers and grasses such as vinca, small mulberry tree, miscanthus, max chrysanthemum, etc.

　　"Since the public hinterland of 2.8 km Riverside Demonstration Section is not deep enough, the flood control wall can only be built in front, and the biggest difference from the 2.7 km is that all flood control walls are receded to the back." Zhang Hongxin introduced. Now, walking from Guangde Road to the Power Plant Accessories Factory along the river, a cherry blossom avenue appears by the side; when river wind blows into the face, people have an unobstructed panoramic view of the river surface.
