As Shanghai has begun to build a new batch of affordable rental housing, the 153 Block of Dinghai Road Sub-district at Yangpu District, as one of the sites of the housing project, has also begun its construction, which is expected to add 659 new affordable rentals to further meet people's demand for diversified housing.
The 153 Block housing project is located at No 3400 of Changyang Road, neighboring major thoroughfares such as the central elevated highway and the North Driveway of Zhou Jia Zui Road, and only 400 meters from the Aiguo Road Station of Line 12, guaranteeing supporting facilities for living.
According to Yu Miao, person-in-charge of the project, the total construction area is 43,000 m2, with a total investment of RMB 750 million. Two residential buildings will be built, providing 659 affordable rental housing after their expected completion and use in 2024.
According to Chen Xiang, head of Affordable Housing Department of Yangpu Housing Management Bureau, in accordance with the Opinions on the Implementation of Accelerating the Development of Affordable Rental Housing in Shanghai, applicants for affordable housing shall meet two entry requirements at the same time: firstly, applicants shall have legal employment in Shanghai; secondly, applicants have difficulties seeking housing in Shanghai, that is, average housing per person within certain areas in Shanghai is below 15 m2.
In recent years, Yangpu has actively improved its affordable housing system and provided 5,691 public housing through building new houses, match-building, renovation, and purchases. During the "Fourteenth Five-year Plan," Yangpu will guarantee the completion of affordable housing construction and collection, and provide targeted housing for targeted people to truly meet their living needs and improve the quality of their living, thus safeguarding the regional development, urban renewal and industry upgrading at Yangpu District.
