Yangpu District Public Security Bureau has recently kicked off the month-long “Intensive Propaganda Campaign” to fight against telecommunication frauds which involve key words such as “safe account”, “cable TV arrearage”, “summon from court”, “online banking upgrade”, “guess who I am”, “award winning” and “your child has been kidnapped”. Police officers and volunteers performed short scenery plays and operas and demonstrated cases to disclose different approaches of the telecommunication frauds on the starting ceremony. They also distributed materials so as to enhance people’s capability to discover and stay away from the frauds.
The police alert the people that the cunning criminals are so good at their skills that it is very difficult for the people to take enough precautions. To avoid being conned, the best way is to remember that nothing is free. People have to remember that they shall never trust any messages about online banking upgrade, never make suspicious calls for consulting, never answer automatically transferred calls, never trust the telephone numbers of the incoming calls, never believe the so-called “safe account”, and never wire money to the bank account of a stranger.
By the month-long campaign, Yangpu District Public Security Bureau expects people from all walks of life to support and coordinate the prevention and crackdown efforts against telecommunication frauds, generating a favorable environment for the people and the police to join hands and fight against the crimes.
