In the morning of October the 19th, over 2,300 runners flocked to the venue of the first Yangpu New Jiangwan City 8k Race, turning the usually quiet New Jiangwan City community into a lively sea of joy.
The Yangpu New Jiangwan City Race included an “8k Race” and a “Coke-Cola 2k Fun Run”. Starting 7:30 am, runners followed the instructions of training coach for a warm-up session, in order to enhance performance and avoid sports injury. 8:00 am, at the sound of the starting gun, 8K race runners sprinted across the starting line and engaged in a heated competition. Half an hour later, the first runner crossed the finishing line. The top three male and female runners were all foreigners. Many runners expressed the wish for “another try” in the next year.
The following “2K Fun Run” attracted many fun-loving participants, who dressed up in all kinds of odd clothing, including colorful wigs, dinosaur costumes, and super-sized “eyes”, to make for an entertaining running experience.
At the main venue of Experimental School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, event sponsors set up a variety of games, shows, and entertainment activities, which greatly added to the festival-like atmosphere and welcomed by the runners and audiences.
