According to the District Administration of Afforestation and City Appearance, Lanzhou Road (between Jining Road and Zhoujiazui Road) has passed experts’ assessment as to join the rank of Shanghai’s New Boulevards.
The city started a pilot program of boulevard building in 2011, and since then the number of “Municipal Boulevards” in this district has grown to twenty, including Kongjiang Road (between Longchang Road and Yuanquan Road), Longchang Road (between Zhoujiazui Road and Kongjiang Road), Yinhang Road (between Zhengyue Road, and Songhu Road), etc. In addition, with the expansion in the number of boulevards, the trees planted have expanded from common species such as sycamore and cinnamomum camphora to other varieties such as koelreuteria, hackberry, and zelkova, creating diversity in shapes and colors of tree trucks and leafs.
