In September last year, Baidu's world's first L4-class, manufactured self-driving bus "Apollo" appeared in Chang Yang Valley. Recently, with support of 5G network, the response speed of Apollo increased from 100 ms to 5 ms with centimeter-level high-precision positioning, ensuring an average positioning accuracy of less than 5 cm; multiple sensors on the bus can form four layers of perceptual redundancy with 360 degrees of perception, maintaining sensitive even in special weather conditions such as the evening and rain.

　　Recently, Yangpu released the construction planning of 5G network in the whole district, where 914 5G base stations will be completed in 2020 to achieve uninterrupted coverage of 5G signals in the whole area. According to the plan, the three major operators of China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom will complete 705 5G base stations in Yangpu this year, 531 of which are expected to be finished in the third quarter, basically achieving uninterrupted coverage of 5G signals in the whole district, and full and high-quality coverage in key areas.

　　In line with Yangpu's key industrial layout and the ecological community-based distribution of AI enterprises, Yangpu focuses on promoting the 5G industrial application construction of artificial intelligence industry highlands such as Chang Yang Valley and B-Link, and has been promoting 5G innovative applications via universities, hospitals and research institutes. In the near future, Yangpu will support in-depth cooperation between enterprises in the district with telecom operators in areas such as 5G+ entrepreneurship and innovation services, 5G+ education, 5G+ medicine, 5G+ transportation, 5G+ e-sports, and 5G+ security.

　　Taking 5G+ education as an example, Fudan University has taken the lead in deploying 5G network in its key areas, and has carried out 5G implementation in its Institute of Science and Technology of Brain-Inspired Intelligence and School of Computer Science to facilitate scientific research and application. Tongji University will set up 5G network in its affiliated hospitals, the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab robotics and the School of Automotive Studies to conduct research and application. The School of Automotive Studies of Tongji University has also reached a preliminary agreement with Huawei to explore the higher level of self-driving technology.
