During the sixth "World Forest Day" on March 21st, in order to improve the public awareness of forest resources, recognize the importance of forest and environment protection, in the morning of March 18th, Shanghai Gongqing National Forest Park launched a "Search for Forest Treasure" timber art competition; the participating timber art enthusiasts gave full play to their creation, to turn rotten tree and branch wastes into treasures, dead into wonders.
On the scene, handicraft talents were eager to involve in their creative practice, make Mickey Mouse, owl, rabbit, small wooden horse, small car and other timber art works with hacksaw, steel drill, iron nail, iron hammer, pigment, hemp, glue and other tools, and thus the simple rotten trees and branches seem unlimited poetic.
"Today, three members of our family made an owl; while making, we encountered some difficulties in dealing with the wing, nose and feather of owl. Fortunately, we have many creative ideas and finally solve them." The participant Mr. Cui told the reporter, "the activity not only helps children to improve their handling ability, but also eco-friendly, and the finished timber art products can place at home as decorations, to kill many birds with one stone."
The reporter learned that after the end of this event, Shanghai Gongqing National Forest Park will also select excellent timber art works, to exhibit in the upcoming 2018 Urban Forest Hundred Flower Exhibition Room.
It is said that Shanghai Gongqing National Forest Park has established a tree-crushing site, to crush the rotten park trees and branches, make them into fertilizer after decomposing, reutilize them, and fully recycle the timber resource.
