The next 5 years is a critical period for Yangpu District to accelerate its efforts mandated by both the central and Shanghai governments in establishing itself as a central area in the future global innovation center of Shanghai and a national innovation and entrepreneurship model base. How will the district facilitate the interaction among colleges, hi-tech parks and communities and integrate strength from manufacturing, academic and innovation areas? On November 8th, the Industry-University-Research Alliance of Fudan Innovation Corridor was officially launched at Fudan University Science Park.

　　The Alliance is a non-profit organization voluntarily formed by Fudan University, research institutes, public institutions and enterprises operating along the Fudan Innovation Corridor, which currently consists of 29 member entities. At the ceremony, Shanghai Eastern Tech-Transfer Co., Ltd., a member of the Alliance, and Shanghai Fudan University Science Park Co., Ltd. entered into a strategic cooperation contract on technology transfer. In the meantime, Shanghai Digital-Design Co., Ltd. and Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Fudan University signed a cooperation agreement of Industry-University-Research on New Methods to Automatically Identify Fuzzy Parameters and Its Application in Digital Design.

　　As specified on the 10th Party Congress of Yangpu District which just closed, the district will strengthen cooperation and take the building of the national innovation and entrepreneurship model base as an opportunity for universities, research institutes and enterprises to facilitate the matching of the advanced projects and technologies of the colleges and institutes with the hi-tech enterprises in the region, as well as to enhance the building of coordinated innovation areas of the Corridor (Fudan Innovation Corridor), the Circle, the Valley and the Park, so as to build a highland for knowledge and technologies.

　　The Fudan Innovation Corridor is an area connecting the Handan Campus and Jiangwan Campus of Fudan University, which has become a major hub of innovation and start-ups of Yangpu District. The Corridor is home to office buildings that cover a total area of 2.3 million square meters which are occupied by innovation centers including Knowledge & Innovation Community (KIC), Tishman Speyer, Fudan University Science Park, Bay Valley, China (Shanghai) Public Practicing Base for Entrepreneurs and Shanghai Cloud Valley, over 4,500 enterprises, public service platforms and nearly a hundred technology agents including National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center (NSTC), National University Technology Transfer and Shanghai Intellectual Property Park, as well as education and talent resources such as Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

　　According to Jiang Xingguo, Chairman of the Alliance, the establishment of the Alliance has a significant impact on Yangpu’s efforts in the interaction among colleges, hi-tech parks and communities, the technology transfer and spillover of Fudan University, the improvement of the innovation capacity of the district and on the building of the central area in the future global innovation center of Shanghai and a national innovation and entrepreneurship model base. He also remarked that the Alliance will further leverage its advantages in resources, talents and technologies to play a positive role in promoting the technology transfer of colleges, the R&D, education and manufacturing cooperation between colleges and enterprises and building the regional technology innovation mechanism.
