"Could you show me your palms, please? You suffered from serious anemia and need further treatment, as indicated by your palm, "Ge Xuhua, Deputy Direct of General Medical Dept. of Yangpu Hospital (affiliated to Tongji University), told the first visitor at Siping Community Health Services Center.

　　On August 1, the first medical expert office that integrates medical resources in the district was established in the above Services Center. Coming forward, the Hospital and the Services Center will provide segregated medical treatment, facilitate talent grooming, foster clinical researches, and deliver quality medical resources to local communities.

　　Currently, the Hospital has deployed 8 departmental services in the Health Services Center. Apart from common diseases and chronic diseases, available medical treatments also cover Cardiology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, etc. which are strengths of the Hospital. According to Mr. Yuan Wei, Deputy Director of Siping Community Health Service Center, doctors from related departments will take shifts to see outpatients in the Center to serve local residents. "Moreover, we will designate a community general practitioner to each expert as his/her apprentice to improve community hospital's medical capacity so that we could resolve issues here."

　　However, the above is just the District's first step in developing integrated medical resources network. According to Mr. Yu Dehua, Dean of Yangpu Hospital deploying excellent specialists to community hospital can not only help groom community doctors, but also facilitate bilateral referrals to benefit local residents. "Leveraging its strengths as a first-class Hospital, Yangpu Hospital will developed such 'expert offices' in 12 communities' health service centers this year and deepen cooperation with services centers by outpatient services, expert shifts, bilateral referrals and one-on-one coaching," Yu added.

　　Apart from partnership with community hospital, Yangpu Hospital has been exploring models to collaborate with private nursing homes. Recently, Shanghai Riyuexing Nursing Home has become as a member of Yangpu Hospital's Specialized Nursing Medical Association. In 2018, the Hospital will facilitate the Nursing Home develop a 16-bed pressure ulcer (bedsores) care ward and an expert office for wound care training.
