The first bus of Line 538 departs at 7:00 in the morning. At 6:45 in the morning, the reporter saw the first bus ready at the starting station, with its inside disinfected and all the windows opened for ventilation.
Du Donghui, the driver waiting for the passengers, told the reporter that in addition to driving, he also had to make sure that every passenger wears a mask and presents a green health code when they get on the vehicle.
At 6:52, Mr. Xu, the first passenger came and presented a green code and a negative result from a nucleic acid test taken within the past 48 hours. He told the reporter that he learned that the Bus Line 538 passing by the Changhai Hospital had resumed operation, and he wanted to visit that Hospital to get insulin for the treatment of diabetes, so he rushed to the station to catch the first bus.
"With public transport resuming operation, life is much more convenient now," said another passenger on the first bus, who was also going to the Changhai Hospital for medicine. The reporter learned that as early as a week before, the No. 1 Bus Company had begun to disinfect vehicles and do maintenance. Considering that drivers had been away from their vehicles for about two months due to the lockdown, the company organized necessary training for them before allowing them to drive again. Zheng Jichong, the person in charge of Bus Line 538, told the reporter that after the resumption of operation, multiple safety measures were taken, including disinfection for every trip, and adequate ventilation at all times. At 8:00 that morning, the reporter came to the Wujiaochang Station of Metro Line 10 and saw some passengers on the platform, and almost all of them were carrying luggage suitcases.
Metro Line 10 goes directly to the Hongqiao Airport and Hongqiao Railway Station, and most of the passengers onboard were leaving Shanghai for their hometowns. Mr. Zhou, a passenger onboard, is from Changsha, Hunan Province, and he was going to the railway station to take a high-speed train for Changsha; Ms. Jiao, another passenger, was about to take a train for Shangqiu, Henan Province, her hometown. She had intended to ride a shared bicycle to Hongqiao Railway Station; Mr. Yang, passenger again, was going back to Jiangxi Province and planned to come back to Shanghai later. They and many others witnessed the first day of Metro Line 10 re-opening.
Before getting in the subway station, passengers must scan the code of the station, present a negative nucleic acid test result less than 48 hours old, and have their temperature taken. At 8:03 that morning, a train bound for the Hongqiao Railway Station stopped at Wujiaochang Station, and passengers waiting on the platform got on the train in an orderly manner.
There were almost no empty seats in the carriage, and the passengers all wore masks, and some of them even wore protective clothing. They didn 't talk to each other during the ride. The train made some stops on the way, taking onboard more passengers, most of whom were carrying luggage.
