Simple, convenient, and small in size, the most favorable solar panel energy station made its debut in the transportation demonstration area of the Wujiaochang commercial center in Yangpu district as the first of its kind in the city. It avoids the problems of the scarcity of land in the urban area and the complicated procedures and high cost of connecting to the grid that general energy stations face.

　　This new energy station with an area of 400 sq meters is located at the south of the transportation hub at the intersection of Yinxing Road and Songhu Road and next to the No.2 Exit of metro line 10. Inside a rain shelter on which the solar panel was installed, the station offers electricity charging to electric vehicles with battery at a similar power as regular charging station where one full charge lasts 3.5 hours. Our reporter noticed that the station complements the new energy vehicle leasing at specific time period program by integrating the innovative technologies in photovoltaic panel, electricity storage and charging station to provide service to the vehicles. According to the head of Kuku Company, the owner of the program and station, the station has a capacity of 10,000 kilowatt and can generate 40 kWh for 10 vehicles to charge at the same time. Foreseeing the shortage of supply when the facility runs at full capacity for a long time, the company has prepared an emergency plan of supplying power pack and upgrading technologies in self-discharge distributed photovoltaic panel and excess electricity contributing to the grid to meet the greater demand for the clean energy.

　　As the first of its kind in Shanghai, the station was built to support the electric vehicles leased in the program. At present, the transportation hub has contained bus stations, Metro line 10, P+R parking lot, bicycle for public leasing, non-motor vehicles parking space and electric vehicle leasing spot, which offers a variety of mobility options for citizens.

　　The station will be promoted by the district in newly built public parking lot and parking program off rush hours according to how well the first one operates and the market responds. The district aims to offer an approach for new energy vehicle and zero carbon emission by tapping the potential of the energy storage and generating of photovoltaic panel.
