On October 8, Mr. Ding, head of a Shanghai equipment company, arrived at the Changbai Xincun Police Station of Yangpu Public Security Bureau, holding a silk banner in hands, to express his gratitude to the police.
On the evening of September 30, Mr. Ding ran into the police station in a hurry, saying that his company mistakenly remitted to an unfamiliar account, and had not discovered until checking the flow of funds; at that moment, one week had passed since the wrong remittance. After receiving the report, the police immediately rushed to the company to learn about the case and track the flow of funds.
It is said that this company has maintained long-term cooperation with a foreign raw material supplier, and both parties had always exchanged information via e-mail, and agreed on the transaction mode. On September 22, the company received a supplier email, requesting RMB 390,000 as the raw material price and a recipient account was provided; the staff was busy working so as to mistakenly regard this supplier as a previously contacted company and remitted the money. Afterwards, Mr. Ding found problems while checking the flow of funds. Upon verification, the raw material supplier indeed had not received the payment, and RMB 390,000 was transferred to a company based in Shenzhen. Therefore, the police immediately contacted Mr. Liu, head of the recipient company by telephone.
The police told Mr. Liu about the ins and outs, and showed the identity to the other party through video calling. As a result, upon verification, the receiving company confirmed that the transfer of RMB 390,000 was a mistake of the case-reporting company, and immediately returned the money in full amount. The huge money was recovered, and Mr. Ding could not help feeling exhilarated.
Yangpu police reminder: Enterprise must check the payee's information during remittance, communicate and confirm via telephone, video, etc, concurrently register the capital flow, and retain the transfer record.
