On May 16, May Book Fair, as part of the 4th Yangpu District Reading Month, was launched in the lobby of Yangpu District Public Library, attracting many book readers and buyers. Bookuu was invited to set up a stand there, exhibiting more than 1,000 books of 600 kinds. "You order, I pay" activity allows readers to borrow books they have selected immediately after the books are bought and registered by the staff.
According to the 12th national reading survey conducted by Chinese Academy of Press and Publication, the book reading ratio of Chinese adults was 58.0% in 2014, 0.2 points higher than 2013; the newspaper reading ratio was 55.1%, 2.4 points higher than 2013; journal reading ratio was 40.3%, 2.0 points higher than 2013.
Yangpu District Public Library started from April 23, launching 16 events for public good in five blocks, including “Cultural Lecture”, “Theme Exhibition”, “Reading Promotion”, “Centennial Yangpu” and “Happy Children”. Characterized with digital reading, visual reading and innovative reading, the reading month is guiding the new reading fashion of the city and creating a favorable environment for the public to read.
“Do you want to record your reading and keep your voice in the digital library and share it with others?” The library, Shanghai Zenda Himalaya Internet Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Drama Art Center have jointly launched “Voice of Reading”--My Favorite Book 2015 Micro-reading Contest. People who love reading can participate, upload and share their work with mobile phones, computers or pads anywhere and anytime.
Recording their reading voice and sharing it with mobile terminals and the internet has been welcomed by many reading fans as it is interactive both online and off line. As learned from the library, since the contest was kicked off in the end of April, 77 readers in Yangpu have enrolled for the contest and uploaded their works successfully.
