2015 Easyrun Shanghai Cross Country Run of “Dada Cup” has been recently held at Jiangwan Stadium, attracting 1,500 participants. It was the first time for Shanghai to introduce a cross country run of international style, which provided another characteristic platform for people to keep fit.
Cross Country was originated on the British campus as early as 1837. It was wild and wet because the ground was soft with mud and gross. Runners would hardly make powerful steps and very likely fall into the pits on the rough grounds. It was also the excitement that the event captured the hearts of the British young people. In 1867, the first Cross Country run as a contest in the United Kingdom was born.
To provide a healthy and environmentally friendly platform for runners, the Easyrun team spent half a year checking almost all meadows in Shanghai before finally finding this piece of green land at Jiangwan Stadium. Running tracks have been developed according to international standards. The tracks are five kilometers long. Each circle is more than one kilometer, the length of which meets the standard of internationally high-end contests. The tracks are divided into seven speed grades, avoiding too many people scrambling on the same tracks.
Besides the green meadow, Jiangwan Stadium has very unique history and cultural background. It is landmark sports architecture with more than 80 years’ history. It is also one of the birth places of sports in Shanghai. People running here can feel the grandeur of this historic building.
