The delegation from Tong Ji University won the championship of the college team in the final game of the 2015 Odyssey of the Mind (OM) that has been held recently. Led by the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tongji University, the delegation has drawn participation of students from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Sino-German College of Applied Sciences of Tongji, Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. The students gathered together thanks to the common interest in OM. After more than three months of preparation, they exerted their own academic strength and eventually emerged on the stage of OM’s World Finals.
OM, originated in the United States in 1978, holds a worldly final every year in the United state. With the purpose of developing creativity and team spirit of the youngsters, OM highlights combination of labor work and brain work, science and art, scientific spirit and humanism. 2015 OM World Finals, the 36th event, was held in Michigan State University from May 20 to May 23, attracting participation of more than 850 delegations from many countries and regions including China, the United States, Russia, Poland and India. In the OM China Finals held in March this year, Tongji Delegation won the championship and obtained the qualification to go to the United States to take part in the World Finals.
Tongji University has been encouraging and promoting cross-disciplinary community in cultivating innovative talents.
