Shanghai Campus Volleyball Alliance has been recently set up in Fudan University. The alliance will implement related requirements of comprehensive educational reform of Shanghai, constitute the plan for step-by-step volleyball education from primary school to college, and promote the overall development of volleyball teaching, training, contests and scientific research in primary schools, middle schools and colleges. The alliance will cultivate volleyball population on the campus, develop channels for high-level volleyball talents, call on social supports from the market and the media, etc., and substantially improve physical quality, health status and sports skills of youngsters.

　　On the founding ceremony of the alliance, Shanghai Campus Volleyball Alliance Experts Committee made its debut. Shen Fulin, Chairman of Shanghai Volleyball Association and President of Shanghai Sports Institute, and Chen Zhonghe, former Chief Coach of China National Women’s Volleyball Team and Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau are consultants to the experts committee. 18 other volleyball experts and coaches have been hired.

　　Shanghai has a good foundation for developing volleyball sports on the campus. Five universities including Fudan have seven high-level volleyball teams while 37 primary and middle schools in the 14 districts and counties of the city are city-level schools with volleyball traditions. The alliance has drawn 22 universities and 127 primary and middle schools as the first number of member units. The alliance is planning to set up branches in 16 districts and counties.

　　The alliance will seek breakthrough on three innovations: the first is innovation in concepts, closely connecting campus volleyball activities with personal development of the students and fully demonstrating the function of sports in personal cultivation; the second is innovation in content, carrying out volleyball activities that suit to students’ physical and mental characteristics based on different ages and genders; the third is innovation in contests, revising and improving existing volleyball game rules so as to draw more attention and participation from the students.

　　Shanghai Summer Vacation Four-people Volleyball Invitation for Youngsters, as the first game that the alliance is organizing since its founding, has started registration for participants.
