Influenced by creative design, the originally deserted footwear wholesale center should generate a wonderful chemical reaction -- on November 17, a Community Neighborhood Center jointly designed by residents was unveiled at No.370 Fushun Road.
Surrounded by old-style public houses, the colorful Fushun Road Community Neighborhood Center is particularly eye-catching. Here people can see the fruits of brilliant creativity and community collaboration everywhere.
On the small square at the entrance, there are multifunctional leisure and playing facilities. The "Forgotten Corner" on the east side of square is an open space in the heart of street created by painted and circular flower beds, and the painting on the wall is jointly completed by parents and children in the community. After name solicitation, this place is called "Dream Valley". On the west side of square, children are lying prostrate on a hundred-meter-long scroll, drawing their imagination for a beautiful home in the community.
Stepping into the interior, a leisure bar full of modern atmosphere meets the eyes. Painting & calligraphy room, mother & baby room, sports room, lounge reception room, multi-functional activity hall, each space is hung with eco-friendly guide signs made of waste materials by residents; old tapes, circuit boards, dead leaves, old keyboards... these objects "turn waste into treasure", and also function as emotional bonds. "Look, both characters of 'Si Ping' are spelled out by my computer keyboard." A resident said excitedly.
It is heard that since the beginning of planning the Neighborhood Center, residents have been encouraged to participate in the design of space and activities, through the Community Open Day, discussion and other manners, allowing them to talk about the expectations and service demands for the new Neighborhood Center.
An inconspicuous small sapling planted at the entrance of Neighborhood Center is the "online popular" cherry tree presented by Tongji University, symbolizing the in-depth integration between university and community.
The "Open your space: Design Intervention in Siping Community Fifth Season--Open Creation Festival" was also kicked off on the same day. It is reported that this season's action focuses on the theme of "Design & Collaborative Communities", which will continuously improve the quality of community through "reshaping from residual space to vibrant public space", and carry out locality-based, small-scale and progressive neighborhood updating at the community level, to develop a flexible and more humane community with cultural characteristics.
