“Architectural Heritage”, the academic journal jointly published by China Science Publishing & Media Ltd. And Tongji University under the supervision of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) launched the initial issue in Tongji on March 7. A symposium was held at the same time. The journal is China’s first comprehensive and professional journal focusing on historic architecture, environmental research, protection and restoration. Three celebrities contributed messages to the first issue of the journal: Wu Liangyong, academician of CAS and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and professor from the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, Luo Xiaowei, honorary chairman of the Architectural Society of Shanghai and professor from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji, and Fu Xinian, CAE academician and researcher of the Architectural History Research Institution of China Architecture Design & Research Group.
According to academician Chang Qing, editor-in-chief of the journal, Heritage Architecture combines science and art and integrates history and future, aiming to present academic exploration, engineering demonstration and art appreciation functions. The journal is dedicated to be constructed into an international academic platform for communication across disciplines and cultures, contributing to the standard of China in urban & rural construction, protection and utilization of cultural resources. The journal is quarterly, printed in 16 Dimensions and distributed worldwide, presenting regular columns like “Research Focus”, “Theory & History”, “Heritage Stories” etc.
